Netflix's Co-CEO Checked Out 4,846 Shares: Did He Tell You?

He probably did it while watching Bridgerton 3.

Good days.

No one asks, but here is the summary of my TikTok fyp last week:

  • Weird café orders at the Nitro Bar in Rhode Island (someone ordered a coke espresso cafe & I’m traumatized).

  • Watermelon content.

  • Guy in finance, trust fund, 6’5, blue eyes audio.

Also no one asks, but I have some exciting giveaways coming at your door for folks based in Vancouver. So stay sooo tuned.

This is Roll the Tape, our weekly market recap of recent transactions and updates in the industry.

Here’s the itinerary for today:

  • Recent Transactions: BlackRock to back “Paddington.”

  • Cannes Recap: Cate Blanchett forever being an icon.

  • Music & Film Shopping: retail therapy but make it art.

  • B-Roll Preview: “CASH & CANNES” - an absolutely crazy-bonker title.

If you’re new here, welcome to The Produced. Check out our previous deep-dive issues here.

Recent Transaction

  • BlackRock has led investors to raise $108 million in financing for Anton, the European studio behind “Paddington,” at the recent Cannes Film Festival.

Only legends would know that “Paddington” is a culture reset. Look at him chilling with Lizzy!

  • Canada’s government has invested $23 million to help launch an official content market at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival.

    • TIFF is on its way to expand offerings & become global platforms for film financing to flourish. Someone is about to become a finance bro.

  • Yesterday, Gregory Peters, Co-CEO of Netflix Inc, sold 4,846 shares at $650 each, totaling about $3.15 million.

    • Given a year-long trend of insider sales with no purchases, he’s probably taking advantage of the stock’s high valuation.

      • Although Peters won’t spill the exact reason for his sales!

Peters has someone to thank, but watching “Bee Movie” this many times deserves nothing but jail time.

Bullet Recap of Cannes, and It’s Good.

Not Raising Cane’s, but the 77th Cannes Film Festival was all that the ton was talking about.

(Pardon my regency English: I’m currently Bridgerton-operated)

Here is a quick recap of what you need to know about this year’s Cannes:

  • Selena Gomez received an ovation for her upcoming movie: Emilia Pérez.

  • Greta Gerwig, the director of “Barbie,” was the President of the Feature Film Jury.

  • Francis Ford Coppola’s $120-million project “Megapolis” closed big deals for financing after its premiere.

  • The Palestinian Showcase at Cannes collaborated with the Palestine Film Institute (PFI) to showcase 4 movies amplifying the Palestinian stories.

  • Cate Blanchett causally came best-dressed and iconic.

Retail Therapy

Why need therapy when you have a good music taste?

Unfortunately, last week was a music-rotting week for me - none of the music hits.

But Billie Eilish’s recent album HIT ME HARD AND SOFT single handedly pulled me out of the lump. So go listen to that right now.

Besides that, I’ve been revisiting the discography of one of my favorite artists of all times, TEEKS. I was going to gate-keep, but a morally upright person does not do that.

So you’re welcome.

Same thing goes for movies and shows, it was an uneventful week for me besides binging “Bridgerton” season 3.

Until I realized I was in this rut was because I’ve not watched any of Tran Anh Hung’s films in my life, a Vietnamese-born French filmmaker that won the 2023 Award for Best Director at Cannes.

So I watched “The Taste of Thing.”

B-Roll Preview: CASH & CANNES

So excited. Visit us on Instagram for the intro blurb.

If you don’t know, the number of investors and financiers present at Cannes every year are as many as the number of actors and creatives.

So, the intersection between film and finance are more apparent than you think.

Alright, that’s all I have for today.
